AM - Entry numero uno- So maybe I was just feeling left out of the
latest fad...seems like just about everyone has a blog up and running
these days, though I will say that Alicia
was one my first friends to really keep one going full time. I'll make
no guarantees to the frequency of my updates, but I'ma sho'nuff gonna
try.
So I guess the whole trick to this venture is attempting to maintain some sort of interesting existence- at the least, interesting enough to feel justified giving the blow by blow for the whole world to view and comment on. Of course, y'all can comment all you want. Unfortunately (or not, as time will tell) I'm a dunce when it comes to HTML, so there's no clever little comments links on here like Alicia's and others, even though you just tried to click on that anyway ( yeah- we all saw you). Now, for those who don't know me all too well, follow along to the vital info- I guess that oughtta do ya for now. As far as the new job goes, I'm still in semi- hiatus. The job more or less fell in my lap. I had been previously employed (most unhappily) by Compaq as a tech, but in temp status with no promise of permanency. Being as they're in the process of merging with Hewlett-Packard, they're not making any sudden moves with any employees any time soon. There were quite a few days when I would show up to an empty work queue and thus be sent home. Anyone with a car payment knows how well that can work against yer budget. So anyway, a buddy of mine that I had met on a BBS has been working with an Australian company called MetroCount for the past 2 years, and he more or less heads up their US operations. He caught me online one day and asked if I was still lookin' to get out of Compaq. I do believe my response was something akin to "Is Michael Jackson Toys R' Us's best customer?!!" or something of that nature. He gave me a brief history of the company and a basic description of the job entailed and really turned me on to these crazy Aussies. I sent a resume out to the CEO that night, and within a week or two was flying to Orlando to meet and greet at a trade show. From then on, I was in. Now, it's just a matter of setting up all the formal and legal shiznit. Being that the company calls Australia home, it's easiest to set up a single owner small business in the position of a sub-contractor. 'Tis a bit of a pain in the arse to go through all the red tape ('specially in the state of New Jersey), but as his substantially-higher-than-mine salary shows that this company appreciates hard work, it seems to be all worth it. It's a bit weird to find myself in an actual "career" position this early in life, but I'm certainly not bitchin about it. In other news...the band is doing quite excellent these days- better than we probably ever have. The songs that are being written are high quality, in my humble opinion, and anyone who knows me knows that I'm an absolute musical snob. Mike is really meshing with our quirks and qualities, and together, we're turning out A-grade musical adventuring results. Next two gigs are in June- the 8th @The Fire in Philly, and the 9th @ Woodstock in Cherry Hill. The former will be a nighttime gig with local jam-band faves Bohemian Sunrise. We've done shows with them before, and our collective crowds are quite compatible, which always makes for a good time. Warning to anyone going- the Fire is on 5th&Girard, but the building doesn't say the Fire anywhere on it. The only sign reads "Philadelphia Bar & Grill". I think they co-exist or something silly like that. The gig at Woodstock will be an afternoon lawn jam affair...hmm...wonder if that's a "weather-permitting" kinda thing. I should prolly look into that. I think I've rambled on enough for the opener...To bed...peace, y'all...

RECENT REVELATIONS There's nothing in this world so messy and time-consuming as stuffing your own cigarettes.
I never realized how many bugs there were in the world until I owned a white car.
I play music- therefore, I am.
